Nov. 28, 2008 (China Knowledge) - The Chinese Ministry of Railways (MOR) plans to build more express passenger lines (PDL) in the country and the total mileage of PDL in operation is expected to be increased to 16,000 km, the official Xinhua News reported.</p]
According to MOR's revised Medium- and Long-term Railway Network Plan released on Thursday, more than 120,000 km of rail lines will be built by 2020, with a total investment of over RMB 5 trillion.</p]
The express passenger rail network with a speed of over 200 km/hour, will significantly cut the travel time between provincial cities, which are expected to have a population of more than 500,000, according to Lu Dongfu, vice minister of MOR.</p]
