Taiwan saw PC shipment fall in Q4 of 2008Published: 18 Mar 2009 00:25:19 PST<p class="authorInfor"]</p]<!--begin CK content--]<P]Mar. 18, 2009 (China Knowledge) - Taiwan shipped 688,300 units of personal computers in the fourth quarter of 2008, down 9.1% compared with the previous quarter due to sluggish demand, according to statistics from IDC Taiwan.</P]<P]Taiwan sold a total of 295,800 notebooks in the fourth quarter of 2008, 16.2% more than in the same quarter of the previous year. Notebook sales in the home computer market increased 22.7% from a year earlier, while sales in the enterprise market declined 3.6% year on year. </P]<P]Taiwan sold a total of 392,600 desktops in the fourth quarter of 2008, 9% less than in the same quarter of the previous year. Desktop sales in the home computer market rose 5.6% year on year, while sales in the enterprise market fell 20.9% year on year. </P]<P]In the fourth quarter, Acer Inc and ASUSTeK were the top two notebook vendors in Taiwan, followed by Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Lenovo Group Ltd<992>.<BR]</P]
